School in China

IN SHEKOU, SHENZHEN, CHINA, A SCHOOL FOR CHINESE STUDENTS WISHING TO LEARN ENGLISH AND THE AMERICAN WAY OF THINKING TO DEVELOP ORIGINALITY AND THE SPIRIT OF DEFIANCE AND FAILURE LEADING TO SUCCESS, IS STILL IN NEGOTIATION. INDIVIDUALS FROM CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY, TAIWAN, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY, AND EDUCATORS FROM SHENZHEN, CHINA, CONTINUE TO FORMULATE THE CORRECT EDUCATION STRUCTURE AND ARCHITECTURAL LANGUAGE OF DESIGN.

Eugene Tssui has teamed with individuals from England, Taiwan, and China, to create an educational setting that counteracts the rote training and memorization of traditional Chinese education. The new school will be approximately 700 square meters (7000 square feet) in size, on two levels, inside an existing high-rise building.

Additional Comment:
It is fear that keeps us living at a level far below what we are capable of.  Doing what is right and what is needed in this world, when everyone else is conforming to the conventional just to get by, is demanding and leads only to a compromised life.  Each of us deserves to reach our fullest capacity and we must fight for this all the time.  We must be vigilant not to compromise our self-dignity and value.  The right educational environment can strengthen our self-worth and our sense of self-disciplined responsibility.  This is the challenge of creating the right kind of school.
