Professional realtors, lawyers, insurance agents, city administration, and governmental policymakers were treated to a lecture presentation that pulled everyone way beyond the scope of their everyday experience and expectations. Eugene Tssui illustrated how the future of their professions could radically change and new professions, that have never before existed, must be imagined and anticipated if they are to survive the future.
Climate Change is creating a new outlook of the earth and professionals that deal with human-made and natural real estate must account for sea level change, natural disasters, the lethal pollution created by buildings, and the nature of one-to-one human relationship in their professions. All of the assumptions we have made in the past about desirability of land is radically being altered. Ocean frontage is now the most vulnerable and dangerous place to live. Our architecture is not adapting to the coming dangers of global warming. In fact, it is a primary cause of it! Architecture is lethal! The earth is dying. If we do not adapt we will face disasters unknown to our past.
